When you buy a used gadget, how important is the warranty?

As stated in a few postings this weekend, I have been searching for a slightly used OQO 02 on eBay.  I have sent out SEVERAL messages to those sellers that didn’t indicate  whether or not there was any remaining warranty and most have responded they didn’t know.

How the hell can you not know if there is still a warranty?  If you don’t know, would it not make sense to contact OQO using their online help to determine it?????

When I sell gadgets I am very clear about how long I have had the unit and whether or not the warranty is still in effect.  I just don’t understand.

Is a warranty not important to anyone but me?
